Founded on September 4, 2012, by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Dewsritha Valence Mendis and Very Rev. Fr. Neville Coonghe, St. John Paul II Institute of Higher Education provide opportunities for talented underprivileged youth in the Diocese of Chilaw.
St. John Paul II English Medium College, Wennappuwa, opened on April 30, 2014, with pioneers Very Rev. Fr. Neville Coonghe, Rev. Sr. Anne Muriel, Mrs. Mary Anne, and Miss Ramani Liyanage. The new school premises were blessed by Rev. Fr. Peter Charles and Rev. Fr. Eric, marking a significant milestone for Catholic education.
St. John Paul II International College, Wennappuwa, was founded on September 10, 2015, by Very Rev. Fr. Neville Coonghe. The school was established to deliver the Cambridge curriculum which sets a global standard for education, identified by the worldwide universities and organizations.
There were 4 teachers and 25 students at the commencement of the school. The classes were operated LKG, UKG, Primary I and Primary II.
The school was able to grow the passion of learning internationally recognized and inspiring course of studies. In 2023 the first Cambridge Ordinary level students were sat for the qualifications.
St. John Paul II English Medium College, Chilaw, founded on January 5, 2017, as the network’s third school, provides Catholic education under the leadership of Very Rev. Fr. Neville Coonghe and Principal Rev. Sr. Shirmila Artigala.
St. John Paul II English Medium College, Puttalam, founded on January 8, 2018, in the heart of Puttalam city, led by Very Rev. Fr. Neville Coonghe and Principal Rev. Sr. Pavalaranee A.C.
